Response From Home Office E-mail
Written by Paul Mitchell

Home Secretary Dr John Reid has responded to the letter delivered to the Home Office by 7/7 Inquiry campaigners.

The response comes some four weeks after the letter requesting an Independent Inquiry into the events of &th July 2005 was hand-delivered to the Home Offic e on May 1st 2007.

In the letter, Dr Reid states that an Independent Inquiry is not "the correct response at this time" as it would "divert the energies and efforts of so many in the security service and police" and states that issues raised after the Crevice Trial will be "re-appraised" by the Intelligence and Security Committee.

Campaigners feel that this response is wholly inadequate and simply re-iterates what the Home Secretary has been saying for over 18 months. They also question the "re-appointment" of the ISC and feel that there should be no reason why the Committee should entrusted with this matter a second time as they failed to fully investigate the matter when first appointed.
